After beginning their journey in 2013, the colony at Simon Fraser University officially installed as the Chi Theta Chapter.
During the course of the colonization period for Chi Theta, the members put on various events that brought together the campus, community and future brothers. Their professional events have included multiple workshops on salesmanship, interviewing, speaking and résumé building. One of the chapter’s social events was a day at Burnaby Mountain Park full of mingling, football and a picnic. “Every member is an important piece of our puzzle. We believe that it is important for all of our members to remain involved and engaged in the activities of the fraternity,” said the chapter. “The purpose of our social events/ activities is to build a brotherhood and endorse interaction among members. With each event, the members grew together in their personal and professional development as a chapter.”
In a chartering petition letter of support, Pacific Northwest Section Director, Rachel Wong, shared her perspective of the chapter’s growth. “Over the past three years, I have witnessed the transformation from a small scattered group of individuals to a unified team of students working to establish an identity for their colony and live the values of Alpha Kappa Psi. The colony’s members have developed strong leadership and business skills while hosting and executing a number of professional, fundraising and service events for the student body at Simon Fraser University.”
In addition to the excitement of installing as the Chi Theta Chapter, Dr. Rachel Fouladi was extended faculty membership and Dustin Procee, past colony president, was awarded a Bronze Distinguished Service Award.
“We would like to thank all the representative from the installation team for all their rigorous planning and execution, as well as believing in us,” said the Chi Theta Chapter. “We are excited to be part of the global organization and network! We would like to also thank every brother whom has made this possible through persistence, hard work and dedication.”
