A Foundation for the Future

The Howell + Wendroff Professional Center

Eileen and Scott Howell’s lead gift of $1.05M has paved the way for the renovations of the cornerstone project of our campaign:  the renovation of the Howell + Wendroff Professional Center (HWPC).  The HWPC is the home of the professional staff of the Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity, the Alpha Kappa Psi Educational Foundation, and the Commonwealth Leadership Alliance.

The main focus of the renovations is the construction of the Collaboration Center and the Learning Center. The Learning Center will enable AKPsi to host conferences for groups of 200, which will allow the expansion of training and support for chapter officers, chapter advisors, and volunteers and staff. By hosting events such as Pathways and the Volunteer Summit at the HWPC,

it will result in a cost savings of $1,000,000 over the next 10 years, while also projecting for a 50% increase in attendance year-to-year.

The groundbreaking for the renovations were held in the spring of 2022, followed by the creation of designs, budgets, and renovation planning. Construction began in the fall of 2023. The images below show the progress made in the three main areas of construction: (1) the Brooklyn Bridge Plaza, (2) the Learning Center, and (3) the Collaboration Center.

In addition to the main gift provided by the Howells, initial gift commitments have been made by Steve and Chrissy Vasquez and Lee Voegler. For more information on donor and sponsorship opportunities, click the “Naming Opportunities” button below.
