[Noblesville, Indiana] – [March 20, 2024] – Alpha Kappa Psi (AKPsi) is pleased to announce a new mission statement: “To develop a diverse global community of courageous, principled business leaders with the capability to drive positive impact throughout their lifelong journey.”
This revised statement reflects AKPsi’s commitment to evolving alongside the ever-changing landscape of business. It emphasizes the Fraternity’s core values while positioning it as a preeminent organization for fostering the current and future generations of impactful business leaders.
“The new mission statement expresses AKPsi’s commitment to being an important part of how our members grow as leaders, with the expectation that we, the collective we, will have the motivation and means to make our communities better, on the small scale and beyond,” said Michael G. Dickerson, Chair of the AKPsi Board of Directors. “The world of business is more dynamic than ever before. Our new mission statement acknowledges this reality and reaffirms our commitment to equipping our members with the skills and character they need to navigate complex challenges and achieve success.”
Student Voices Shape the Future
While key alumni leadership was critical in getting the project underway and developing the outline, creating this new mission statement was driven by more than just leadership. AKPsi actively sought input from student members. AKPsi conducted a comprehensive survey involving students from chapters throughout the organization, including Gamma Chi at Miami University, Gamma Eta at the University of Toledo, Gamma Pi at Seton Hall University, Eta at the University of Cincinnati, and Delta Omicron at California State University Long Beach.
Students were presented with three draft mission statements and asked to rank them, followed by an opportunity to elaborate on what resonated most with their top choice. The students’ choices were then summarized and provided to the board of directors for consideration.

The new mission statement emphasizes several key themes:

Finally, the mission statement provides the framework for current and future programming and resources for chapter operations and programs implemented in conjunction with the Commonwealth Leadership® Alliance, including the certificate program and new opportunities in business and career-related programs for students and alumni.
