BABSON PARK, MASSACHUSETTS (March 10, 2016) — Alpha Kappa Psi, the largest international professional business fraternity, recently re-chartered the Gamma Nu Chapter at Babson College.
The re-chartering was directed by Fraternity Executive Vice President Mike Dickerson, Virginia Tech ’04-Life, with 66 new students initiated as members. This revitalization shows great efforts in restoring the Gamma Nu Chapter which originally lasted 44 years after first chartering in 1953.
During the colonization period, the students hosted various professional, service-related, fundraising and social events. Through their experience, the students developed skills that easily translated to their professional career. The colony’s professional events included a panel of investors featuring William LaPoint, co-founder of Halpern, Denny and Company, and Mark Altman, CEO and founder of MindsetGo. Additional events included an etiquette dinner and card making for Boston Children’s Hospital.
In a letter of support for the group, University President Kerry Healey spoke on the positive impact Alpha Kappa Psi will provide for Babson College. “The mission of Alpha Kappa Psi reflects the mission of Babson College,” said Healey. “Both strive to develop well-trained, ethical and experienced business leaders. Alpha Kappa Psi would complement our students’ education and strengthen the practical knowledge they need to succeed in our increasingly global and complex business environment.”
The group is led by president, Rada Ilieva and supported by Area Vice President Lisa Calandriello, American ’97-Life, Regional Director Jason Weinstein, McGill ’03-Life, Section Director MiCoya Grace Hutchins, Detroit (Day) ’87-Life and Colony Advisor Myca Ferrer, American ‘06. “In my time serving as their colony advisor, I have already witnessed their unwavering dedication to the success of the colony from the colonists and executive board alike,” said Ferrer. “This ability to harness such excitement and cultivate it into results will prove fruitful for each individual’s personal growth after their years at Babson College.”
