NORFOLK, VIRGINIA – Alpha Kappa Psi, the largest international professional business fraternity, recently awarded Paul J. Brinker, Cincinnati ’84-Life, the most prestigious award conferred upon a member, the Gold Distinguished Service Award (DSA). The Gold Distinguished Service Award is presented for the recipient’s extensive service on the fraternity-wide level.
Brinker was initiated by the Eta Chapter at the University of Cincinnati in 1984. Following his graduation in 1985, he served the fraternity in a variety of roles: district director, regional director, two terms on the Board of Directors, and Foundation Director.

Previously awarded a First and Second Degree Silver DSA for his service as an alumnus, Brinker was presented the Gold DSA by former Foundation Chairman Richard W. McVay, Texas Tech ’79-Life during the 2015 Convention. Past Gold DSA recipients present for the ceremony included Carol R. Carter, Gustavus Adolphus ’76-Life, Robert A. Davenport, Old Dominion ’86-Life, Kenneth B. Hastey, Saint Louis ’76-Life, Eileen L. Howell, Wisconsin – Milwaukee ’78-Life, Robert A. Spansky, Detroit (Day) ’62-Life, David P. Brinker’s acceptance speech resonated with many as he spoke on the lifelong friendships he’s formed and the value of being an involved alumni member.
