DALLAS — Alpha Kappa Psi, the largest international professional business fraternity, recently granted an alumni charter to the re-established Dallas/Fort Worth Alumni.
Originally the 22nd alumni chapter to charter in 1949, revitalization efforts came from nearly 20 alumni members representing various collegiate chapters. The alumni group held a number of recruitment, networking and socialization events.
Realizing the gap that came with the disappearance of the original chapter, the group fostered a renewed interest and dedication to providing a mechanism for members to stay engaged beyond their collegiate years. In a chartering petition letter, Chapter President Tyrone Welch, Alabama State ‘07 – Life stated how the alumni chapter strives “to strengthen the bond amongst the alumni brothers in the Dallas/Fort Worth area through professional networking and service projects.”
Led by Welch, the group has plans to provide professional guidance to not only members of Alpha Kappa Psi, but to the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area as well.
