The final weekend of the Principled Business Leadership Institute, held in the San Francisco Bay area, was host to two teams competing in Alpha Kappa Psi’s Case Competition.
Case Competition is designed to provide participants an opportunity to identify a social issue, create a business plan, consult with an expert in the field, and impact their community.
Like the other competitions in Atlanta, Philadelphia and Chicago, the teams used the United Nations’ Transforming our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as the framework. For this competition, teams chose one of the seventeen goals described to identify their social issue. From there, they were vetted by experts in the field to identify which teams moved forward to round two, delivering the team’s sustainable startup business plan as a part of the Case Competition at PBLI.
After the presentations, judges deliberated but eventually determined that both teams competing deserved a monetary award to further their business idea. The first place team received the full $2,500 prize and the second place team was awarded $1,000.

Rights Consulting aims to bring awareness to the faults of our incarceration system to give the public the tools to champion positive social change for nonviolent offenders. Rights Consulting is a two-part firm. Rights Consulting Law and Rights Consulting Media will work in tandem to be an activist media platform with the purpose of inciting tangible reform. Across both branches, Rights Consulting advocates for those unfairly processed in the justice systems and unjustly incarcerated for crimes lesser than the determined punishment.

Sleep Safe produces weather-proof and water resistant sleeping bags. These sleeping bags are made with Thermolite synthetic fibers, so unlike goose down, it is water and mildew resistant. When our sleeping bags are purchased from a retail location, Sleep Safe Company donates one to someone living in poverty or homelessness. Sleep Safe hopes to provide poverty stricken individuals employment with adequate pay and chances for better employment in the future with business workshops. At the end of the day, our goal is to “Do Better.”
