INDIANAPOLIS – (September 24, 2018) National Hazing Prevention Week is a time for chapters to raise awareness about the problem of hazing, and educate others about preventing hazing.
During the 2018 NHPW campaign, Alpha Kappa Psi has implemented amnesty week. Amnesty provides all pledges and student brothers – especially executive board members – the opportunity to openly discuss events or situations with risk reduction implications. Instead of launching an investigation or drafting disciplinary terms, the Judiciary Committee will team up with the chapter to resolve any specific issue brought to their attention. Throughout this week, the goal is simply to provide recommendations and solutions to empower chapters to shape their path this year.
One resource a day will be shared to help chapters learn the signs of hazing, the AKPsi Hazing Policy, and view resources to help them manage crisis situations. There is also a contest that allows chapters to submit a design about NHPW for the chance to win $500 toward PBLI. Submissions are due Wednesday, September 26 at 11:59 PM.
The schedule for the week is as follows:
- Monday – Hazing Policy E-learning
- Tuesday – The Truth About Hazing Recognition and Prevention Webinar
- Wednesday – Hazing on College Campuses Infographic
- Thursday – The Myths and Truths of Hazing Content Paper
- Friday – How to Report an Incident Infographic
Visit akpsi.org/nhpw to view the resources and enter the contest for a chance to win $500 toward PBLI.
