Below is a letter from Jazna Stannard, Purdue ’12, who is taking the core value of Service to heart and seeking help from other chapters. As she states below, “the effort is simple and the reward is great.” You can contact her at jstanna@purdue.edu.
As we enter the New Year we reflect on the past. Last year’s Soap & Towel Campaign was very successful and we would like to thank everyone that participated. We have reached over 30 universities across the nation and our goal is to add another 30 by February!
As you recall the Soap & Towel Campaign collects and distributes desperately needed toiletries, towels, and bedding to local homeless shelters. These shelters service thousands of individuals daily. If you can imagine…one bar of soap is divided into sixths and towels are cut into thirds to barely meet their need!!!
This February, we will be presenting the results of the Soap & Towel Campaign at each regional PBLI conference including a list of universities that have participated. For those of you who participated we would like to thank you very much for your donations and continued support. To those of you who are still interested to participate, we encourage you to make a pledge to join this cause and start your donation program. It’s not too late. Just one bar of soap changes 8 lives. So please consider joining this worthy cause, I want to see your name on this list!
So, …Grab a Bar of Soap & Throw in the Towel….we need your donations of shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, razors, cough drops, towels and bedding. Remember, the effort is simple and the reward is great. We have a start up package ready for you with flyers, ideas to campaign, and other organizations to rally with.
Help us, help others.
Sincerely Your Friends at the Pi Omega Chapter,
Austin Donovan Pi Omega President |
