Yesterday was the first day of Alpha Kappa Psi’s 62nd Convention in Indianapolis!
Wednesday Recap
Our first day of Convention was filled with celebrations and reunions as we kicked off another historical gathering of Alpha Kappa Psi members. Brothers explored Indianapolis through a number of different excursions, kissed the bricks at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and gathered for the Welcome Reception!
Welcome Reception
Convention kicked off with fun and food! Attendees met the Fraternity and Foundation leadership and were then treated to an evening of games and treats.
Volunteer Appreciation Reception
Fraternity, Foundation, and Commonwealth Leadership® Alliance volunteers gathered to hear from CEO Steve Hartman and Executive Director Brian Parker. Each of them shared their gratitude for the dedication to moving the organizations forward, and the counsel and advice volunteers share with members.
Current Chair of the Fraternity Board of Directors, Michael G. Dickerson, Virginia Tech ’04-Life, was awarded a Second Degree Silver Distinguished Service Award for his dedication to the Fraternity and helping further the vision to be recognized as the premier developer of principled business leaders. Congratulations, Brother Dickerson!
Excursions
Attendees had a busy day exploring Indianapolis. Several groups “kissed the bricks” during the Indianapolis Motor Speedway tours. Others spent time walking through the Indianapolis Zoo and the State Capitol. Some brothers even got crafty at Penn & Beech’s Pour Your Own Candle and Brother Chad Smith’s Floral Design and Sip.
Blood Drive
Brothers participated in a blood drive with Versiti Blood Center. Versiti Blood Center serves Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio. Folks in these communities will directly benefit from the generosity of our donors. Thanks for helping save lives, Brothers!
