ELLENSBURG, WASHINGTON (October 16, 2015) — Alpha Kappa Psi, the largest international professional business fraternity, recently granted an alumni charter to the Central Washington University (CWU) Alumni Chapter.
As the 111th alumni chapter to charter, efforts came from more than 30 members representing multiple generations of CWU alumni. In a chartering petition letter, Michael E. Dickson, Jr., Central Washington ‘02-Life shared how the “intent of the alumni chapter will be to strengthen the bonds between student membership and alumni membership. We are a dedicated group of alumni to our Central Washington University student member counterparts.”
During the installation events, Dean Kathryn Martell of the Central Washington University College of Business was initiated as a faculty member of the Kappa Xi Chapter. Also present during the events, alumnus and colony member Alan Crain, Central Washington ’85-Life was asked to be a speaker during the installation. Alan is a current member of the Washington Society of CPA’s and a member of the Advisory Board of the College of Business at Central Washington University. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Kappa Xi students and alumni participated in a kick ball game where the alumni won 31 – 22.
Led by Chapter President Ashley C. Sweitzer, Central Washington ’08, the group has plans to connect all generations of CWU Alumni and to continue supporting the development and educational experiences of current Kappa Xi members. They will provide their members with an increased opportunity for chapter and leadership volunteers and re-engage alumni, in the area and worldwide.
