JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA — Alpha Kappa Psi, the largest international professional business fraternity, recently granted an alumni charter to the re-established First Coast Alumni in the Jacksonville area. With its resurgence, the State of Florida now hosts the greatest amount of alumni chapters in the fraternity.
Originally the thirty-sixth chartered alumni chapter in 1959, revitalization efforts came from more than 20 alumni members representing a variety of collegiate chapters. The group engaged in various events, more recently including Relay for Life.
In a chartering petition letter, chapter president Russel J. Bryan, South Florida ‘06, shared the group’s intention is to build a strong local alumni base. Benefiting more than just local collegiate and alumni members, “we intend to develop working relationships with our community [and] our local Chamber of Commerce,” said Bryan.
The alumni chapter has plans for a beach day this summer and a fall event with a local collegiate chapter to celebrate the fraternity’s anniversary.
