HAYS, KS (May 11, 2016) — In early May, the Zeta Pi Chapter at Fort Hays State University hosted their third installment of the Real World series, Real World 103.
The program is designed give current students the opportunity to speak with recent FHSU graduates and ease their transition into the real world. Students of all disciplines were invited to come attend the program, ask questions, and participate in the discussion. The idea for the series began when members of the Hays Area Young Professionals proposed a discussion with current students about the potential issues they could face upon entering the real world.
The panel of graduates that visited FHSU for the third installment focused on employee benefits and medical power of attorney. The graduates discussed the effect these topics would have on students during and post-college. The event brought together more than 60 students and members of the community.
“The main goal of Real World 103 was to ensure the success of students after graduation, allowing them to ask the questions that are not taught in the classroom, of community members and professionals who know what they’re going through as students getting ready to graduate from Fort Hays State University,” said Tandra Johnson, former president of Zeta Pi, during an interview with FHSU. With high hopes for additional installments, the chapter has plans to continue and expand the series into future semesters.
