FAIRFIELD, CONNECTICUT — Alpha Kappa Psi, the largest international professional business fraternity, recently granted its 355th collegiate charter to the students of Sacred Heart University.
The installation was directed by Fraternity President Alexander T. Sultan, San Diego State ’93 – Life, with 56 new students initiated into membership.
During the colonization period, the group worked in conjunction with Sacred Heart’s John F. Welch College of Business, to host a variety of activities, including events headlined by managers from PricewaterhouseCoopers and Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance. One such event included a PricewaterhouseCoopers representative, who not only presented on the company and its internship opportunities, but also provided training on the utilization of Excel in the business world. This topic coincided with preparation for an Excel certification course that the John F. Welch College of Business offers. A similar event was held with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance and Financial Services. Attendees learned about Northwestern’s day to day operations and internship possibilities.
In a chartering petition letter in support of the students, Sacred Heart University President John Petillo attributed similar missions between Alpha Kappa Psi and the John F. Welch College of Business, “Both strive to develop well-trained, ethical and experienced business leaders. Alpha Kappa Psi would complement our students’ education and strengthen the practical knowledge they need to succeed in our increasingly global and complex business environment.”
The group is led by president, Luca Partesano and supported by chapter advisor Stephanie J. Letkowski, Connecticut ’10, and faculty advisors Julie A. Mujic, PhD, Indiana ’98, and Stephen A. Scarpati, CPA, CLU, CHFC. “I look forward to seeing what they do as a chapter in the years to come,” said Mujic. “My time with AKPsi meant so much to me, and I hope to watch many more college students grow and thrive within the fraternity as I did.”
