INDIANAPOLIS (October 28, 2016) – Alpha Kappa Psi invites chapter and colony presidents to register and attend the Presidents Academy.
The Presidents Academy is an educational leadership experience designed to provide chapter and colony presidents with in-depth learning concentrating on serving others, self-awareness, chapter operations, understanding vision, and how to create a chapter success plan.
“Attending the Presidents Academy reignited my passion for leadership in AKPsi,” said Grace E. Cleland, Emory ’14. “I learned practical ways to apply a model of servant leadership, which helped me to establish and maintain a leadership style that is completely others-oriented and focused on helping other leaders grow within the chapter. I felt so much more well-prepared to effectively lead the chapter and plan for the semester when I returned from the Academy.”
Through a servant leadership lens, participants are able to focus on member retention, teamwork, conflict resolution, and compromise. This experience seeks to provide participants with the necessary tools to coach those they lead and to create and sustain a chapter success plan which will lead to increased member engagement and retention.
“My experience at the 2016 Presidents Academy was one of fond memories and gained knowledge,” said Kaysha Alvarez, South Florida ’15. “Initially, I was nervous to travel such a far distance, by myself, to meet up with people I did not know. However, despite the nervousness, there was still a sense of excitement. Over the course of three days I learned a lot about myself as a leader. It was a give and take relationship. I was able to provide insight on what worked best for me as chapter president and acquire knowledge from those who were efficient in other aspects of their presidency.”
