BALTIMORE, MD (December 6, 2016) – The colony at Loyola University Maryland installed as the Chi Iota Chapter this past Saturday.
During the course of the colonization period for Chi Iota, the members put on various events that brought together the campus, community and future brothers. Their professional events have included a Loyola University Maryland alumna speaking on résumé tips and her accounting career, a public speaking workshop led by an English professor from Loyola, and an accounting panel with representatives from KPMG, Deloitte, RSM and EY.
Throughout their colonization, the members also participated in various service activities around the area. Efforts included packaging boxes of bath and beauty donations with the Maryland Food Bank and participating in the York Road Initiative cleaning up trash and interacting with local residents. With each event, the members grew together in their personal and professional development and as a chapter.
“I have gotten to know the student leadership of Loyola’s Alpha Kappa Psi colony very well,” said JP Krahel, Assistant Professor of Accounting at Loyola Maryland. “I have found them to be ambitious, contentious, optimistic, and energetic in their planning and goal setting for the colony. I am confident that, under their leadership and with my advice, a future chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi will become a point of pride for the Sellinger School and for Loyola University Maryland.”
