Gregory Taylor, Howard ’11
Based in Austin, Texas, Gregory Taylor holds a Master of Science in Global Entrepreneurial Management from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Howard University. With 15 years of experience in digital marketing and advertising, Gregory has navigated a diverse, non-linear career path, taking initial roles in account management and then transitioning to executive-level sales roles.
While a student at Howard University, Gregory founded two separate companies – a social media agency called Taylor’d Brands, along with a sports and entertainment marketing firm. Since 2010, his entrepreneurial efforts have focused on marketing athletes, entertainers, nonprofits, and SMBs, with an emphasis on branding, sponsorship, and omnichannel strategies. Gregory’s storytelling approach has enabled him to secure high-profile marketing deals with professional talent and elite sport entities.
Though Gregory found early career success, he always aspired to make an impact on a global scale. In 2015, he enrolled in the University of San Francisco’s global entrepreneurship program, which afforded him the opportunity to live in Barcelona and Taipei to build international connections before returning stateside to San Francisco to complete the program. This overseas experience taught him crucial lessons about diplomacy, foreign investment, and the fragility of global trade.
After completing his master’s program in 2016, Gregory joined Bay Area startup MightyHive as an Account Manager. The firm was a new breed of media consultancy that partnered with brands and agencies seeking transformative marketing results amid industry disruption related to media buying best practices. In his account management role, Gregory provided consulting services in media operations, data foundations, and analytics. Gregory excelled at building strong client relationships by leveraging his deep technical expertise to help organizations determine the most critical marketing and advertising technology investments to drive growth and efficiency. His ability to quickly earn client trust and deliver results led to a promotion as a Client Solutions Senior. This sales enablement role allowed him to unlock budgets across new and existing business by providing additional clarity around key technology investments. Since joining the growth team, Gregory has continued to exceed expectations, earning promotions to Director and most recently Vice President.
In 2018, MightyHive, a digital advertising and marketing services company, merged with S4 Capital plc (SFOR.L), a new-age firm founded by Sir Martin Sorrell, known as the “godfather” of the agency holding company model from his previous role as the founder of WPP. By 2022, the company, now operating under the Monks brand, surpassed £1 billion in revenue for the first time. This was thanks to a concerted effort to consolidate services across more than 30 mergers and deepen relationships with key accounts, each generating at least £20 million in annual billings. The marketing practice has been recognized as a global leader in advanced marketing and advertising technologies, most recently being selected as the only agency on the Programmatic Players List for the fifth consecutive year in 2024 by AdExchanger. Notable clients that the company works with include Google, Netflix, Amazon, Adobe, and NVIDIA.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Gregory serves as an advisor for the S4 Fellowship Program, which provides professional development and training to underrepresented groups in the marketing and advertising industry. After revamping the program’s selection process in 2023, applications have increased by 600 percent. Gregory’s commitment to boosting minority representation in tech-focused organizations drives his work in this leadership role, as he guides young professionals through corporate nuances to enhance their career trajectories.
Gregory was recently appointed as an a Advisor for Neighborhood Sports, a youth sports league dedicated to enhancing accessibility and inclusivity across programs like NFL Flag, Jr. NBA Basketball, NHL Street Hockey, and MLS GO Soccer. In this new role, he will concentrate on expanding the organization’s reach and forging key partnerships – a meaningful opportunity, given that Neighborhood Sports provided him his first job at age 14. Drawing on his experiences as a marketer, coach, referee, and program coordinator for the league, Gregory firmly believes that he can continue to lead the organization on and off the field.
As a husband and father of two, Gregory is more committed than ever to inspire others and mentor the next generation. He believes the decisions that we make today can pave the way for a brighter future, and that there is no reason to withhold the knowledge that could empower future leaders.
