INDIANAPOLIS (October 14, 2016) – Leadership is a quality many students seek to gain by joining organizations and taking on positions. The recent webinar with more than 90 registrants was led by Egbar Ozenkoski, Regional Manager of Membership and Section Director for Eastern Great Plains, and Stephanie Van Dellen, Desert Southwest Regional Director.

“If we can understand it, we can better practice and hone our own leadership skills,” said Van Dellen. “A test of true understanding and advanced leadership is the ability to realize when it is not time to actively lead. Instead, taking a secondary mentor role and allowing a new leader to emerge is even another form of leadership. As the premier developer of business leaders, we as AKPsi members, put great focus on developing leaders who make a difference in their communities and organizations.”

The discussion throughout the webinar revolved around the concept of being a leader is more than just doing the work – it’s the way you act and how you work with others. “Leadership titles are only as important as the actions behind them,” said Ozenkoski. “You can have a title and it mean absolutely nothing if you aren’t doing something of a value, and vice versa you could not have a title be doing a great deal of work behind the scenes without getting credit. Instead of focusing on ensuring you have an accurate title, focus on what it is you’re doing and how you can do it better.”
