In August 2022, Alpha Kappa Psi brothers from all over the world will converge in Miami, FL, for the fraternity’s 61st Convention. Convention serves as the business meeting of AKPsi, where Chapter Congress convenes to influence positive change within the organization.
The four-day-long fraternity event will be held from August 3-6 and will educate student and alumni members on fraternity knowledge, business knowledge, and professional development through the College of Leadership.
Convention was traditionally held every other year on odd years, but the last Convention scheduled in 2021 was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (Now with the move to 2022, it will be held on even years going forward.)
It’s been a long break for us all, and there’s never been a better time to gather with your AKPsi brothers.
1. Welcome to Miami
𝅘𝅥𝅮 Miami, Miami, you’ve got style… blue skies, sunshine, white sand by the mile… 𝅘𝅥𝅮
There’s a reason everyone from Will Smith to the Golden Girls has paid musical tribute to this beautiful, diverse city. Miami is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world, known for its vibrant nightlife and sandy beaches.
This year’s Convention will be held at the InterContinental Miami, one of the city’s premier hotels. Built around Henry Moore’s famous sculpture, “The Spindle,” the InterContinental sits along the downtown waterfront, within walking distance of the city’s business centers and famous beaches.
Among other exciting activities planned during the event, you’ll have the chance to join your brothers 200 feet above Bayside Marketplace on Skyviews Miami. Its completely enclosed and climate-controlled Gondolas offer views of Biscayne Bay, Bayfront Park, and the iconic Downtown Miami skyline.
2. Influence the future of Alpha Kappa Psi
Attending Convention provides a unique opportunity to hear essential fraternity updates and listen to speakers with fresh points of view and inspiring stories. You’ll leave with new perspectives and a deeper understanding of leadership, motivation, and success.
Attendees will elect AKPsi’s President and Executive Vice President and enact legislation that will influence the direction of the fraternity for at least the next two years.
You’ll have the opportunity to consider and vote on amendments to the fraternity’s constitution and statutory code and make principled decisions to ensure future members develop personally and professionally through AKPsi.
3. Support Jar of heARTS
Service is one of our core values, and Convention is a great time to serve together as a brotherhood. This year, AKPsi is joining forces with Jar of heARTS, a Miami-based organization on a mission to help children overcome trauma through creative art expression and enhance the patient and family hospital experience.
The organization’s signature project is the “heart bag” project. Each bag includes art materials and other comfort items to help ease children’s chemotherapy treatment or hospital stay.
During Convention, attendees will paint canvas bags with hearts and fill them with our donations. On Saturday, a representative from Jar of heARTS will attend the luncheon to accept our contributions.

4. Little Havana Food & Cultural Tour
Convention attendees will have the opportunity to taste traditional Cuban food and explore the rich history of the vibrant Little Havana neighborhood during the 2.5-hour Little Havana Food & Cultural Tour.
Located in the heart of Miami’s downtown area, Little Havana was recently listed as an official “national treasure” by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The neighborhood is known for its historical, political, culinary, and artistic contributions to Miami’s culture.
Hope you’re hungry!
5. Network & spend time with your brothers IRL
It’s been a long couple of years, and many of us are itching to return to face-to-face networking and fun. Convention offers many networking opportunities including the Celebration of Brotherhood, awards luncheon, Brothers Night Out at Everglades Holiday Park, Grand Banquet & dance, and more. You can even join your brothers for some peanuts and cracker jacks at a Miami Marlins game.
Don’t miss this opportunity to engage in rich conversation, learn, and grow personally and professionally. We hope to see you in Miami!
