What is the Business Edge Portal?

The Business Edge Portal is Alpha Kappa Psi’s improved member website designed as a global community for all AKPsi members, partners, and donors. It is easy to use and full of helpful tools. You can use it to learn new in-demand skills, to manage critical chapter operations, and to stay in touch with other members.

The Alpha Kappa Psi Foundation and the Commonwealth Leadership^® Alliance collaborated to create the new portal. Together, our community creates opportunities for everyone to become better leaders and to have personal and professional success.

Business Edge is the brand of business leadership and career development resources developed by the Commonwealth Leadership^® Alliance.

A shared commitment unites Alpha Kappa Psi and the Commonwealth Leadership^® Alliance: to equip leaders with the tools, connections, and insights needed to thrive. Together, we expand the reach and relevance of professional development and bring together a global community of people, ideas, and opportunities.

The Business Edge brand reflects our collective mission: to develop principled business leaders. “Edge” signals competitive advantage, growth, and the forward momentum our members gain through lifelong connection, resources, and engagement. Business Edge resources include:

• The Certificate Program, an assessment-based certificate program, which builds capacity and recognition of principled business leadership skills

How does Business Edge align with AKPsi values?

Business Edge brings our values to life digitally. It embodies lifelong learning, integrity in action, and the unity of a global brotherhood while giving members tools to lead with confidence. Commonwealth Leadership® developed Business Edge with these values in mind.

The Commonwealth Leadership^® Alliance was created in 2015 by Alpha Kappa Psi. At that time, the AKPsi Board of Directors assembled a group of alumni business leaders to research workplace skills and competencies.

The group was charged with developing a list of professional practices and soft skills most valued in the workplace. (This list later became the “Core Six^™.”) This group compiled data from employer surveys and developed a model for leadership development for aspiring business professionals.

The group first met in Richmond, Virginia, in the winter of 2016. It was originally established as the Alpha Kappa Psi Educational Corporation and later renamed to the Commonwealth Leadership^® Alliance.
