As an organization focused on developing principled business leaders, Alpha Kappa Psi has joined other Indiana-based businesses and organizations to voice concern over the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
It was indeed our expectation that Governor Pence would provide an explanation on the intention of the law during his press conference earlier today; however, his remarks only indicated he would seek “to clarify” the law. In contrast, Alpha Kappa Psi is clear on its stance regarding discrimination:
“No individual shall be denied membership on the basis of race, creed, national origin, sex, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, age, or disability.” – Alpha Kappa Psi Constitution, Article II, Section 1.
We remain an organization focused on education and professional development, and we remain committed to fostering a culture of understanding, respect, and appreciation within our organization and in our community.
Further, because we are an Indiana-based organization, operate chapters at several colleges and universities in Indiana, conduct business in Indiana, and employ residents of Indiana, we will continue to encourage our state and local leaders to exhibit the leadership Indiana needs to remain open and vibrant regarding sound business practices and equality.
