The support staff at the Heritage Center keep the fraternity working smoothly every day. These are the welcoming faces when entering the Heritage Center, the voices that answer every phone call, and the people who assist chapters with financial issues, membership questions, and MarketPlace orders (along with many more duties). AKPsi took some time to ask them a few fun questions so everyone can get to know these amazing staff members a little better.
How long have you been working with Alpha Kappa Psi?
Stephanie: I have been working for Alpha Kappa Psi for since Oct. 31, 2016.
Hazel: I have been here for 16.5 years.
Cathy: For 15 years.
Debby: I have been working for Alpha Kappa Psi for 17 years.
Where did you grow up? / Where is your hometown?
Stephanie: I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin until I was about 13 years old. Then we moved to Alpharetta, Georgia.
Hazel: I am originally from Anderson, Indiana.
Cathy: My hometown is Indianapolis.
Debby: I’m born and raised in Indianapolis.
What is your favorite movie?
Stephanie: The is a hard question. I have many favorites. They’re all mostly comedies.
Cathy: Definitely the Wizard of Oz.
Debby: Somewhere in Time is my all-time favorite.
Do you have any pets?
Stephanie: I have 2 Poodles. One is a 75Lb. Standard Poodle and the other is a 20Lb. Poodle mix.
Hazel: I have a small dog named “Boots”.
Cathy: Yes, a big huggable dog named “Roddy” and two calico cats, “Chelsea” and “Gabby”.
Debby: Oh yes, a kitty named “Mary”.
Can you describe what you do on a day-to-day basis at the Heritage Center?
Stephanie: Way too many to list! Member updates, mailings, MarketPlace orders, you name it.
Hazel: I am working remotely right now, but I am updating members in our database and taking on other roles when needed.
Cathy: Spend many hours taking care of the everyday tasks for accounting such as invoicing, credit memos, applying payments, etc.
Debby: I answer student member questions, maintain databases and spreadsheets for membership and produce and ship certificates.
What is your favorite dessert?
Stephanie: My favorite dessert is anything chocolate!
Hazel: Pineapple upside-down cake.
Cathy: Homemade Orange Cake with ice cream.
Debby: Boston cream pie!!
What is your favorite quote?
Stephanie: This is so hard to answer. I really have so many that speak to me.
Cathy: “It is better to give than receive”.
Debby: Growing up, I always heard my grandmother say: “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”.
What is your favorite memory so far from your time with AKPsi?
Stephanie: Every day! HaHa! I really enjoy working for AKPsi.
Cathy: Going to Convention in Las Vegas, meeting members, enjoying the sights and sounds of the city, and then getting to see why students enjoy membership in AKPsi.
Debby: Before Alpha Kappa Psi was an international organization, I was always answering the phone calls, so a chapter would call me “Mom at National”!
